Bebi A has been sneezing a lot last night. I had a hunch that she has caught a bug. I was not able to sleep well last night as I constantly check if she's feverish. She was not! But, she has been breathing through her mouth so that was not a good sign. Her voice sounded different today when she woke up and does not want to go to school again. I guess her system is not used to waking up early. Lately, she's not even eating breakfast as she doesn't have appetite. I feel really bad about this and even thought of asking the school if she can go to the afternoon class.
I should know that being in school, surrounded by a number of kids. She will be more prone to sickness now, just like Dawter T when she started Nursery. With Dawter T, I was unprepared. I learned my lesson though when Dawter T kept on falling sick. Her colds and cough would go on for weeks. That's why I think every parent should know how to cope with pre-school illnesses. Not just for their own kids, but also for other kids. It would help preventing a cold or a flu outbreak.
One thing I am really thankful for is that the Singapore Pre-Schools takes a very proactive approach with any illness or virus outbreak. Singapore pre-schools last year has shown a number of Dengue and foot and mouth disease cases. And, what the school did was to take the students' temperature every morning. If the student has fever, the student will be sent home. They also gave out letters to advise parents not to let their child come to school if they are sick. I feel that it is very good that the parents and the "second parents", the school work hand in hand in dealing with these matters.
